The dream of a young cognac enthusiast comes true: Cognac Jon Bertelsen was born in 1999.
Originating from Senja Island in the Barents Sea, North of Norway, Jon Bertelsen undertook a long visit through the vineyards of cognac. Going from estates to cognac houses, he found his mentor in Olivier Blanc.
Together they took the decision to create a range selected by Jon and adapted to the Nordic countries introducing a unique experience in the making of cognac.
Such was born a beautiful range of cognac with no artifices: Jon Bertelsen Prelude VSOP- SymphonieXO-Orchestra Extra.
Jon understood that the secret of a natural cognac is the quality of the wine. The wine has to be rich, aromatic with potential. Jon found such wines on the hills of the 1st Growth Fins Bois: the very old subsoil gave them strength, elegance and richness. Treating each block separately from the harvest to the distillation, in distilling an eaux-de-vie which is refined, fruity and “fat”, Jon selected the basis of a great dynasty of cognac dedicated to the most demanding palates.
The ageing or as the French say, the breeding of the cognac, is the real craft of this world. The selection of the oak trees with extra-fine grains, the systematic use of new casks every year, the respect of nature with delicate and progressive reduction, in fact an alcoholise, every step is key to achieve an authentic cognac.
The musical note is a sound, a series of notes make a melody then the magic of the music operates with a harmony which is more and more sophisticated. Such was Jon’s passion for cognac that he had an inspiration: the notes from the cognac, as well, organize themselves alongside a musical theme.
To best describe them, he named them: Prelude Brut VSOP, Symphonie Brut XO, Orchestra Brut Cuvée Prestige Extra, Brut.
